Optus has launched a campaign in Australia that aims to tackle misconceptions about 5G to promote its new 5G network.

The campaign used five different characters that begin with the letter “G” like 5Geniuses, 5Grannies, 5Guitarists and 5Game Characters that explain different aspects of the new technology in a playful way.

The telco explained it is doing this to clear up the conversation around 5G, which is currently focused on the intangible future like holograms and autonomous flying taxis.

“People don’t want something they don’t understand,” said Melissa Hopkin, the head of marketing at Optus.

“This is just the start of an ongoing conversation that we will continue to have with Australia over the coming years, as Optus 5G continues to roll out.”

The campaign is created by creative studio Bear Meets Eagle On Fire and produced by Swedish director Andreas Nilsson of Revolver/Will O’Rourke.
